About Northeastern K9 and Our Services

David Owens is the founder and Senior Head Trainer at NEK9. With over 30 years of canine training experience,  David is considered a leading expert with hard-to-train dogs. He is involved in numerous canine sporting events and is also deemed a “trainer’s trainer.” David is called upon by law enforcement to remedy problems with police K9s and also provides performance training for dogs used in television and film.

Basic Obedience:

“Come” and “Sit” - Off-Leash

“Extended Sit” and “Down” - Your dog will sit until you release it

“Place” - Your dog will sit on a specific object you point to (chair, bench, etc.)

“Extended Down” – Your dog will quickly get down into the laying position, belly touching the ground and his front legs extended out in front.

“Loose Leash Walking” – Your dog will walk right beside you while on a leash.

“Off Leash Walking” - Your dog will walk right beside you while off the leash.
